Hard to beat a good banana bread!
Do you remember your Grandma’s Banana Bread? Not too sweet, that wonderful banana flavor, a golden crust around the edge and then covered in butter? Well that is what this recipe is because it has been around forever! Add some chopped nuts for even more flavor and enjoy!
In small bowl, whisk together the flour,
baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In a large bowl and using a mixer,
beat the shortening until creamy.
Gradually add the sugar,
beating after each addition.
Add the eggs.
Using a mixer, beat eggs into the
sugar mixture until light and creamy.
Add the flour, bananas and nuts (optional)
to the egg mixture.
Mix by hand until combined.
Grease a bread pan generously with shortening.
Pour the batter into the greased pan.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for
50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted
in the middle comes out clean.
